The infamous German Automaker Company Audi happens to be the creator of Audi A6 – one of the best executive cars ever built. It is still available in two different body styles as Avant and sedan/saloon. The various generations of A6 cars were made available in the market in two drives – the Four-Wheel drive System and Front-Wheel Drive System.
Audi Allroad Quattro and A6 Allroad Quattro were designed on the basis of second and third generations of A6. The C4 variant of Audi 100 was launched in the year 1994 followed by the introduction of the larger A8. The diesel engine of A6 produced 1.9 Turbocharged Direct Injection with a power of 138 bhp, whereas the petrol engine provided three options in 2.3, 2.8 and 1.8 L with a similar capability of 138 bhp.
Based on the performance, the newer C4 variant of Audi A6 was launched that included 4.2L V8 engine with 286 bhp. In the year 1997, Audi announced the launch of an advanced version of A6 car with a modified engine as well as other features. In the automobile market, this car gave a healthy competition to the famous Mercedes-Benz’s E-class and BMW 5-series cars.
This car was designed in Italy with a low co-efficient of drag of just 0.28. Audi C5 got the place among Ten Best list in the Car and Driver magazine in 2000 as well as 2001. From the engine point of view, a new technology of five speeds Tiptronic Automatic Transmission was used in place of manual transmission.
Whether you consider the first ever Audi A6 model or the latest 2010 A6, every single model in the line-up meant serious business, and presented a great option to all the business class automotive customers.
