Alternative Fuel For Cars – The Next Viable Option

For the average consumer, the prospect of using alternative fuels is a great hope, considering the continual rise in price and increased scarcity of oil and fossil fuels. For the last few decades, a great amount of research has been put into developing alternative fuel for cars, but such research has largely led to small scale developments that may not be enough to help reduce the dependence we have on scarce natural resources like oil and natural gas. Given the amount of research being conducted, it can be hard to determine which fuels may be the next big development on the energy horizon.

One of the more promising technologies being slowly reintroduced to the market is the plug-in electric car. In the 1990’s, a small fleet of electric cars by one manufacturer was produced and utilized for a time with great success. However, the manufacturer did not see the viability or the need of the product at the time, and scrapped the vehicle line. Now, the idea of a completely electric car has been given more weight, and is slowly being considered the next big development in vehicle technology, provided the amount of power one charge can bring into the vehicle is enough for the average consumer’s needs.

Additionally, water has become a more viable possibility for use as an alternative fuel. Researchers have come across ways to expose salt water to radio frequency waves, which can cause the water to combust and give off a significant amount of energy. As a result, many people have begun to develop larger scale models of the radio frequency chamber used by the scientists to create the burning of salt water for use in motor vehicles. At this point, the viability of the burning of salt water as fuel looks more promising than any other possibilities for the long term, so long as the technology can be modified for general use.

Other bio fuels have been considered as a way to not only utilize naturally renewable materials but also provide a more environmentally friendly solution. Unfortunately, this has lead to the average price of certain foods to rise worldwide, as the demand for the inputs to biofuel has risen. Biofuel may not be the best option, especially if a large amount of food based biofuel is needed, as the mount available for human consumption may not be enough to sustain the species on Earth.

Ultimately, the need for an alternative fuel to fossil fuels and oil is necessary to ensure the long term viability of our planet, our economies, and our current societies.
